Background
As a Jinn, Desmond isn’t quite sure when his physical form came to be. However, he remembers the exact date, hour, and second Desmond became Desmond. He remembers because right as his consciousness formed magic bound him to a nearby coin. Desmond’s first master was a mortal witch who needed a servant to clean up her house. However, Desmond refused to heed a mere mortals orders, the natural arrogance of a demon springing to the surface. However, he could not go against the orders of the witch as she held everything he was within her hand. Any time he disobeyed orders, pain struck him with such force that his physical form dissipated and returned to the coin.
He served his first master unwillingly for 56 years until he finally managed to slip poison into her tea, causing her to quickly wither and die. On her deathbed, the last order he was forced to obey was serving a new master, this time a human in China. The man who obtained possession of him had been his old master’s friend, however he was much more powerful. It was under this man that Desmond finally started to learn his trade as a butler. The man was much more strict, however he didn’t demean Desmond as the witch had. Instead he was properly taught a trade, a way of life, and he found himself adapting to this way of life. Initially disgusted and angry, he slowly become a servant-if not a loyal one- from the old man’s training and respect. Eventually he found himself trying to please the man -who had had learned was an American businessman by this point- as he worked. Pleased, while on his deathbed the bachelor old man left Desmond with a last name, Guile. From that point on he was passed hand to hand as he refused to work for masters who had not earned his respect.
Mr. Guile was in the hands of a Chinese man who was attempting to force the demon to cook ramen at his stall. Refusing to do such demeaning work, Mr. Guile was on the ground writhing in pain. At this point Lelouch Goodnight passed by, and seeing a demon in such a situation killed the man and took the coin for himself, simply because it seemed interesting. Mr. Guile lay dormant in the coin until Lelouch called him forth one day and made him his butler. Being the butler of such an amazing being filled Mr. Guile with joy, quickly accepting his position. The coin was put inside the wood of a cane that Lelouch allowed Mr. Guile to carry with him wherever he went.
