Kitsune
Kitsune basic abilities:
Shape shifting
The average Kitsune’s shifting abilities are usually limited to only a few different forms with three of them standard, though other animal forms are dependant upon their personality.
-
-
Fox: The Shape-shifted Kitsune as a fox is able to match a normal fox perfectly or mimic a slightly larger form. The colors vary based on natural hair color. This isn’t always a direct correlation and a Kitsune is able to alter their fur color through focus.
-
True form: A Kitsune’s true form is mostly human with the exception of a set of Fox ears and the number of tails they’ve managed to earn being visible. Most also have a decorative fox mask that represents their personality, status, and alignment.
-
Human: Appearance mimics their true form, save they are hiding the fox-like features. They may choose to have their mask show up in this form as well.
-
Other: The other forms a kitsune is able to take are limited to a few different animals that are closest to their personality.
-
Extreme mobility, speed, and flexibility
Kitsunes are among the most agile and flexible creatures in existence. This is the Kitsunes greatest boon. This too is variable by the individual, though great agility and flexibility is nearly a constant trait.
-
-
The use of magic is the only thing which can bring an average human or mortal to the level of a Kitsune in a full on run. The older they are the greater their agility can grow.
-
Stronger than the average human
Kitsune have strength that rivals even the strongest of men, though by just how much depends solely upon the individual.
-
This allows them to equal the strength of two or three average men together. The older they are the greater their strength can grow.
Ki Magic and Expression
Kitsune are able to use a type of magic that is specific to their species, named Ki energy, to do many different things such as manipulate fire or even speak with the dead.
-
-
When first working with their abilities they have two choices for how to take their Ki manipulation
-
Magic which can mimic one elemental form of magic.
-
Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Shadow and Light are the elements.
-
-
Physically enhance their bodies
-
Has to be focused upon to allow them to actually use this, it’s a concentration skill. With practice it can just happen in the background. These enhancements can range from running even faster than usual to accelerated healing.
-
-
Rarely a unique trait or ability would replace their ability to perform magic.
-
When their Ki is active an aura glows around him which differs in color for each of them.

Kitsune Tails:
[Each Kitsune is different, what unique traits the tails grant can and should be different for each one. They should be on par with the abilities listed below.] Each tier of tail further expands a Kitsune’s natural abilities, basically the more tails and the older the creature gets the stronger it becomes.
-
Tail one: The first tail is the one they are born with.
-
Holds their soul. Grants them the basic Kitsune abilities, should they overexert themselves and loose this even temporarily they return to the form of a fox for an extended period.
-
-
Tail two: They earn this after their first fifty years of life.
-
Grants Sly Tongue - A natural boost to the charisma and charm. This is an effect they have to focus on to turn on and off. It will remain in whichever state it was last left in. To activate or deactivate takes five minutes focus.
-
-
Tail Three: They earn this after they have lived for two hundred and fifty years.
-
Grants true sight. Continuous effect, only works on those of the opposite or neutral alignment to the creature. Should they be neutral themselves then it grants full true sight. (Creatures masquerading as human are spotable. Vampires, Lycans, shifters… demons. Anything not human is noticeable to a Kitsune, though humans are weird to so they… can be a little dense about this overflow of knowledge sometimes.)
-
-
Tail Four: They earn this after five hundred years.
-
Ki Awakening. Strengthens their Ki Control ability, granting greater benefits.
-
-
Tail Five: They earn this after mating.
-
Unlocks the potential to go through a “Trial of Tails”
-
Kitsune Trials of the Tails:
Once a Kitsune has found a mate and received their Fifth tail the creature is allowed to begin trials to earn their additional four tails. These trials fall into three different categories but are specific to the individual and sometimes a trial can lead you down a different path than you intended:
Trials of the Zanko:
The Kitsune who take a the Trials of Zanko, are those who devote their lives to helping others without reward or selfishness; they give what they can and only take what they need. Many follow divine teachings and sometimes celebrated as holy beings.
Trials of the Yako:
The Kitsune who take the Trials of Yako prefer to keep to their own whims and could be found helping someone just as often as they could be hurting someone. Many are tricksters and thieves, not being as charitable as the Zanko or as Cruel as the Akuma.
Trials of the Akuma:
The Kitsune who take the Trials of Akuma are those who have grown cruel and hateful, sometimes to the point of being sadistic in their actions. Some are set onto the path of these trials because of something that happened against their will and their want for revenge overrules the morals they once carried. Overall these trials are meant to corrupt and foster an individual’s darker thoughts, emotions, and actions.
Four tailed priests and priestesses:
Kitsune who forgo having a mate, have a mate of a different species, or have a mate of the same sex, etc. have the potential to become a four tailed priest or priestess, which is a way to hone power and abilities, taking on a different sort of power than the Path of the Nine Tails.
The largest downside of this path is that if a priest or priestess mates, or is mated forcibly, they lose their power and must take the Path of the Nine Tails to regain it.
