In the villages that surround the Marcynian Forest legend tells of young girls, demons, who lure unsuspecting villagers from their safe homes and into the forest never to be seen again.  These demons curse their prey adding them to their collection of Hell Hounds, half human, half wolf, jet black and cursed to haunt the forest and keep their demon mistresses safe from hunting humans.

 

The legend is wrong.

 

The Höllenhund are wolves who can shift into humans for a time.  The young girls were wolves, not demons.  Even the Höllenhund do not know exactly how they came to be, although their own mythos says they were touched by demons at the time of creation.

 

Physical Appearance

Rudee’s wolf form is smaller than most wolves, she could pass as a large black dog.  What she lacks in size she makes up for in speed and agility.  When she is hunting in the woods she doesn’t make a sound, unless she chose to.  When she slips into towns to scope them out, everyone thinks she is just a stray dog, she’s even let toddlers tug on her ears before, when she was in a light hearted mood.

 

Rudee’s human form resembles a teenage girl, with big innocent eyes that can unsettle even the most steadfast human if she stares at you too long.  Her hair falls just below her waist with just a bit of wave, and has that “effortlessly messy” look that most ladies spend hours to perfect.  She is small and slight, barely hitting 5ft tall and is as light on her feet as her wolf form.  She finds it amusing to scare humans by standing right behind them and then looking like she didn’t mean it.

 

Personality

Rudee thinks much more like a wolf than a person.  When she is hungry she can think of only one thing, food.  Most of the time she will hunt in the woods, for creatures, but her favorite delicacy is human.  Her favorite human story is Little Red Riding Hood, however she plays the part of sweet little red, luring the unsuspecting scourge of humanity into the woods to devour, one tasty appendage after another.  

 

When her stomach is full, she acts almost like a normal dog, she loves to play, chase, and snuggle.  She is very instinctual, both in wolf, and human forms, doing what she wants when she wants, and not necessarily thinking it through.  She knows she can be a very bad wolf sometimes, and regrets it afterwards, but sometimes that little yippy dog was just too annoying not to eat.

 

Skills:

• Speed: Whether in wolf or human form, she is quicker than average.

• Smell: Her nose is quite quick to detect the small things in the room.  The smell of old fermenting blood that permeates Vampires, the smell of nervous sweat that comes with arousal and how that differs from fear sweat.

• Hearing: Her hearing is superior, although she tilts her head slightly towards whatever she wants to listen to if it is further away or harder to understand.

• Light Footed: Rudee only makes movement sounds when she chooses to, much to her amusement.  She will snap twigs in wolf form, creeping in the shadows next to unsuspecting love birds, and she will sneak up behind humans in her human form, acting surprised and apologetic when they jump nearly out of their skin.

• Rapid Healing: Her wounds knit back together exponentially faster, so long as she is in her wolf form.  While in her human form a paper cut could cause her to bleed for days on end.

 

Weaknesses

• Silver: Causes burns, weakness, and can be fatal if ingested or left in a wound.  Slows healing, even in wolf form.

• Chocolate: Lighter chocolates like milk chocolate cause stomach pain and food poisoning like symptoms.  Darker chocolates leave her weak and can kill her if enough chocolate is ingested.  Sometimes she cannot help herself though.

• Wolfsbane: Self explanatory.  Deadly when ingested.

• Balls: Unless famished, a great way to distract the Höllenhund.

• Young Creatures: She will go out of her way to protect those who cannot help themselves.  From deer to humans to even vampires, even when famished she will not prey on young creatures and will go out of her way to protect them from harm.

 

History

Rudee’s pack was large, there were fifteen to twenty Höllenhunds at any given time.  While Rudee was helping her mother with the newest season of pups, including her little sister Hellen, a hunter came across the den.  Rudee watched, helpless as Hellen, her mother, and several of the pups perished under silver tipped arrows.  

 

She rescued as many pups as she could, rushing them to the pack hunting grounds, but she found that most of the pack had already been slain.  The curious pups, following their noses instead of their brains tripped a silver net trap, howling pitifully as they dangled helplessly in mid air.  Rudee panicked, she was only 50 years old at the time, still hardly more than a pup herself. She fled.  It’s her deepest, darkest secret, her only regret in life.

 

Ever since that fateful night, she has wandered, settling in towns as a stray dog, rarely taking human form.  She hates humanity for what it did to her pack, but as time has passed she has realized that it’s only a certain type of human that would cause harm to her family, the same type that would harm human children, and other animals as well.  She hunts strictly for those humans who would do wrong to children of any breed, not allowing her bloodlust to interfere with her vow to hunt only hunters of one ilk or another.
